Garibaldi Tall Ships Regatta 2010

Garibaldi Tall Ships Regatta 2010

The Garibaldi Tall Ships Regatta is a special race for 2010, being held to celebrate the 150the anniversary of Giuseppe Garibaldi’s successful expedition from Genoa on the nort-west coast of Italy to Sicily in the south, to unify the new kingdom of Italy and the two Sicilies (Palermo and Naples).

This race has no age restriction so anyone can sail in the event from Genoa down to Trapani in Sicily. However, if you are aged between 15-25 years, At Sea Sailtraining can offer you a chance to participate in a special International Exchanges with people from different countries.

You can join this race on  Tall Ship Astrid, Tall Ship Kaliakra, Tall Ship Tecla and Tall Ship Tenacious. See the special outlines of the voyages down below.

Leg:
Genoa (Itlay)– Trapani (Sicily)
Race 10-18 April 2010

Genoa (Italy) 8-11 April 2010
Genoa, birthplace of Columbus! Almost holy ground for sailors and explorers. Moreover, a very nice city to arrive a couple of days prior to the race. Enjoy the beautiful medieval downtown, get lost in romantic alleys, shop at trendy boutiques, have a drink with tapas in one of the many cosy bars and explore the sparkling nightlife; you can do it all in Genoa!

Trapani (Sicily, Italy) 16-19 April 2010
Trapani is a beautiful spot whether you want to relax or stay active after the race. The nearby nature parks are great for a hike, you can swim in the bay or just relax and get a great tan at the beach. The centre is full of old churches and squares where there is a regular chance for an open air concert.
